I know this be a older game but I had never played it before and had a chance to get and since I love Benoît Sokal I decided to get it. Now it says it will run on XP but I am having a time with it. I keep getting stuck just after I open the gate to the lighthouse, so not very far at all. I have tried diff ways to play it to try and get past this point. I tried reducing my screen rez and running. Reducing and running in compatability mode which in any compat mode cause the came to crash after the Microïds logo intro. So I found it is better with it not in compatibilty mode. But nothing seem to get me past this glitch/hangup what have you. Is it just to old to play? Is it a lost cause?

This game is supposed to run just fine in Windows 98 compatibility mode. Have you tried also reducing your sound and graphics acceleration some, as well? The game also might need that to help it run smoothly.

No, it is not a lost cause. I played this game half a year ago, and at first I couldn't get past the point where you get stuck. But then I found a way to play it - I don't remember it right now, but I'll look it up for you.

I'm sorry, but I did not find anything special: I used no patches to run this game, and when I installed it just now, it runs fine right away, without tweaking anything.
I can only tell you that it IS possible to play this game under WinXP.

Yeah I have tried everything at this point and still can't get it to work. Probably just going to give up and uninstall it.

thanks for trying.

Just thought I'll mention that after having the same problem and reading this thread, I went over to the Adventure Company site and followed their suggestions, which allowed me to play the game without any hitches.

Specifically, I had to kick down the graphics/audio acceleration, but after I did so, everything worked fine.
