I've been somewhat inspired by the kindness of another forumite here and the competition for 'I have no mouth but I must scream' that they're running. Perhaps bandying adventure games around could become a regular thing for those that can afford to cover the shipping costs (which I can).

The only game I could really think of offering as a prize though is Phoenix Wright - is it still hard to come by over there? It's not so hard to come by over here so if I were to ever miss it, I could easily pick up a copy off Play.com or eBay. I've likely gotten all I can out of it though having played through it at least four times and that's an experience I'd like to share.

If I did setup this as a competition though, I'd also like to make a share-alike stipulation on it, that once the person is done with it, they share the game along again themself. How would folks feel about that?

The final word really though comes down to whether this is still hard to obtain anywhere. The last I checked it was but Capcom might've changed that by now.

Yes, Phoenix Wright is still insanely hard to find over here in N. America (I'm located in the US and I've checked just about every retailer in a 5 state radius around me, and I still haven't found a copy. I finally decided to rent a copy). Capcom's June shipment sold out in a week, and they currently have a shipment planned for this August, but it's almost guranteed that they'll sell out quickly.

As for the contest, I think it's a great idea. Phoenix Wright is a great adventure game, and the fact that it's hard to find makes it an excellent prize. As for the shared game idea, it's unorthodox, but I think it'd work well. Nintendo products last forever, and are rarely damaged, so that work out nicely.

Groovy. I'll let this thread sit then to see if we get a few more responses and if there're at least three (to make it worthwhile so I can start researching shipping prices), I'll make a new thread and I'll make it official. The end date is also open for debate, I was thinking of allowing it a while. Perhaps Aug 15th as the closing date? Should I allow for more time, less? Get your foot in the door here and help me decide!

That's nice of you. :)

August 15th seems like an awfully long time from now. I'd just give it a few days to a week.

It's something I'd like to see more communities doing to be honest and whenever I see the initiative, I usually jump in and do my part to help make it something more regular, rather than a one off. I'm like that. The cause is good, so I chip in.

The reason I suggested the 15th was because I wanted to give everyone a chance to see the competition. I didn't want it to be seen by only just a few folks, the addage of 'first come, first served' would apply for that and I don't want it to. Then again, there are waiting times that are simply too long to be worthwhile.

What's the longest you'd be willing to wait, fov?

Just clarifying that passing the game along wasn't my idea -- I'm only continuing the chain from Fienepean. I love the idea and having been a part of it I realize how fun it feels, but I cannot take credit for it. :D
Just making sure no one thinks I'm a nicer guy than I really am  .

I'd love to throw my name in for pheonix wright, because I'd love to play but alas I have no DS. Maybe someday...

Well, I already have a copy, so I guess my opinion probably doesn't qualify. ;)

A week, maybe a week and a half? I dunno... 2-3 weeks just seems like a very long time on the internet. Or maybe I just have a very short attention span. :D

In any case, it's a really nice thing you're doing, and I think you should do it whatever way you want to.

I actually started the competition a little while ago in another thread (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=16105). I decided upon a date that wouldn't be a torturously long wait that would leave people disinterested and yet a date that would allow for a good amount of people to have the chance to get themselves in, even those who don't frequent the boards on a daily basis. It was a hard date to call but I think I balanced it well.

FYI, Capcom swore at Comiccon that they'd have more copies for sale in a couple weeks. That could be total crap, though, or it could be like last time where it sells out after a day :)

That seems likely and until it appears that there's enough stock as to allow everyone to get their own copy, the offer stands. To be honest though, I'm a bit surprised at the lack of interest. 71 views and not one person asking. I gather more people have the game than I'd expected.

Just give it time. Never underestimate people's desire for free things. :D
