View Full Version : Spreading the IHNMAIMS goodness
A few months back I won one of Fienepean's game giveaways and received my copy of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. It took a while for me to get around to it but I finally played and finished it.
Seeming as this game came into my life so unexpectedly and as such a pleasant surprise, I don't feel quite comfortable shelving it with the rest of my games. As fleetingly as it came to me, I think it is only natural for it to leave in the same way.
So, I chose today (of perhaps some personal significance to me ;) ) to have this copy of IHNMAIMS return to the boards. In order to share this rareish adventure (I haven't seen it anywhere else) with everyone else, I am offering the same deal to everyone that Fienepean offered before:
If you are interested in this game, add your name to this thread. After a couple days, I will randomly select one of you (not too sure how I'll do this) and you will receive this classic adventure. I will (try to) send this worldwide free of charge and sincerely hope the shipping costs will not rack up too much. The only restriction that I ask is if you only sign your name if you have not ever played this game before and would like to. That way more people will get to experience its unique story.
Oh yeah, and now that I've got your attention (hopefully), if anyone has any idea how to de-install this game, I will direct you towards my other thread (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=16046) so you can perhaps give me some help with that problem.
So Happy Gaming and good luck!
William

Add me to the list. There is a hole in my collection (and my heart) where this game should be.

I've never played the game, but I love me some Harlan Ellison.
If I win, I hereby swear that upon completing, that I too shall pass it along for more to enjoy.

Happy Birthday! :)
This is like an Adventure Game version of Pay It Forward.
You can put me on the list too.

Oooh, me.
Thank you for the birthday greetings Mikeynuts and Melanie! I had a great day, but now I've got to be an adult and act all grown-up like. ;(
If I win, I hereby swear that upon completing, that I too shall pass it along for more to enjoy.
That's what I like to hear! :D
I'll keep this thread open a little longer while I decide how to actually make the draw...

I'm going to subscribe this thread so I've got a list of interested forumites for future reference.
If I win, I'll probably keep it.
Just being honest.

Add my name to the list as well. If I win, I'll give you something back (not necessarily a game, though)

If you win, can I borrow it? :)

Put me down for some of that, too.
Actually, if I win, I'll likely share it on again. The idea of passing gaming experiences around fascinates me and I'd be tempted to do it myself but I don't really have anything rare enough in my collection to be worthwhile. It's a wonderfully communistic idea though, so I approve. I might have to hunt around in my games collection later to see if I can stage something similar.
I really approve of this though, it means that everyone turns out as equal and no person, regardless of monetary holding or stature has the chance of gaining the prize over any other. Good for you, OP!
As for how to decide randomly, may I suggest borrowing a top hat from somebody, scribbling all the names down on bits of paper, scrumpling them up, shaking the hat around and then drawing the names from that?
(Edit: Removed a random 'ing' that definitely shouldn't have been there.)

That's almost definately how I'll do it, but I'm contemplating how long to keep the thread open for entries... I figure I'll leave it open for this evening and do the draw tomorrow, mostly as I'm not up to compiling the list tonight.
Wish you all good luck!

I'm up for it too, if possible :) Thanks.
Congratulations to bruno321 who got the lucky ballot in at the very last minute. And I do mean very last minute (as in posted 0 minutes ago when I closed the entries).
Hope You enjoy the game and I'll PM you for your mailing address. Hopefully I'll get it in the mail soon, but knowing me...
And sorry to all the other runners up (all 23 of you), but with any luck bruno321 will choose to pass the game along when he's done.

Congrats, Bruno! Don't feel pressured about passing the game along when you're finished. I know I would have kept it to myself had I got it.

Congrats Bruno321 and no hard feelings.
This does sort of make me want to look through my gaming collection and pass on some of the stuff I haven't played in ages.

That would be pretty sweet if a lot of us starting "spreading the goodness" of their lesser played games. If only my collection was a lot bigger.

Congratulations there, Bruno! I share the sentiment of 'no hard feelings' because I know anyone posting in this thread would truly appreciate the game and as long as the game is going to someone who appreciates it, I feel no resentment over that whatsoever.
Chane: Yeah, that would be truly awesome, that's why I started that Phoenix Wright giveaway. It's a really good idea, to be honest and I think that in a community as mature as this one (and it is, surprisingly so), such an idea could really take off. I think there are a lot of good people here who'd enjoy partaking in a sort of honour-system borrow and pass around.
