In honor of me finally playing Sam & Max: Hit the Road:

I really liked this part of the game. :D
I had a bit of deja vu posting this as I think this one's been done before but I'll keep it.

possibly the best artwork in any game ever.
Kick ass dialogue and art!
EVIL puzzles though.

That location had some pretty mind-bending stuff going on, like the hall of doors, where as you get nearer to the door you want to enter you either grow or shrink so you can't fit thorough it/reach the door handle. It would be cool if we got to re visit the Mystery Vortex in the new series, but I don't know if they could pull off that sort of thing in 3D.

The only part of the game in which I had to use a walkthrough...
I didn't think to walk through the mirror.

Extremely bizarre game. Fortunately I'm in favour of extremely bizarre. :D
How much are real American tourist traps like the ones in the game?

@Lacey: I thought to walk through the mirror but I didn't go off screen to the right enough to find the third magnet so was stuck for a bit. I had to get a nudge on that one.

Ooh, I had the same problem, and remained stuck there for a while (I think I ended up having to refer to the hint book). Which is, in retrospect, sort of silly, since it wouldn't make any sense not having the third primary colour there, so I guess I should have thought of looking for that third magnet. Oh well, at least I'm not alone.

I loved Sam and Max but the puzzles in that game where just to weird. The story ofcourse wasn't all that good either so i'll never consider it to be one of my favorite games.
I have never finished it. I found it a bit to hard, and the story wasn`t intriguing enough. I`m going to give it another shot someday, though.

I've always seen ot more as a collection of bizarre comic scenes loosely linked rather than a game wiht a serious overall story arc. Is the lack of a strong cohesive story vital in a humorous game. I know it has been achieved in others (e.g. DOTT) bu is it absolutely necessary?

The game is a parody, it doesn't need a strong storyline. It succeeds in what it was ment to be - a comic-based detective full of humor, parodies and satire. And it's not just an interactive cartoon. Dialogs, monologs, commentaries are amazing, while not that straightforward (if not "childish") as in DoTT. Great game in every respect.

A story doesn't have to be cohesive to be good. Lots of unrelated gags strung together can still be a good story if they're really good gags. I'm speaking in general- I didn't find Sam & Max to be funny at all.
