I recently got in the mail the Classic Delphine Adventure Collection! :9~

It's been ages since I played a good retro adventure, and since I should be on vacation in a week, their timing is perfect, but...

There is a few thing I would like to know about the game themselves...

Flashback and Another World are awesome, but not adventures, so I won't ask about them, but...

The other games in the collection are Future Wars, Operation Stealth and Cruise for a Corpse.

What I really want to know is: Can I screw up so back I might have to restart the game?

Are they like old Sierra game where you can screw up WITH a walkthrough, or like Lucasarts one, where you can't really screw up the game at all (not counting the really old ones like Manciac Mansion and Zak Mc Kraken)...

I'd hate to reach the final part of any of these games and restart because I didn't pick something at the first screen, or get a time limit or something...

Oh, yes, you can screw up. Well, maybe not in Cruise for a Corpse (I'm not certain, I think there's one instance where you can, but I'm not sure about it; well, the game's awful anyway). But in the other two, definitely. Actually, the final puzzle in Operation Stealth involves an item that you're certain to have missed, and that you're almost certain to miss again if you replay the game looking for it, since it's hidden in the most unlikely place imaginable. Future Wars is a tad better in that respect, but there are several items you can miss and puzzles where you can screw up. They both have some clever and imaginative puzzles, but, frankly, I doubt they're worth the hassle. If the games are on a CD, use it to play frisbee with your dog, that'll probably prove a more enjoyable experience.

Well at least, Another World and Flashback should be fun...

I guess I'll use a walkthough for the others, I'd rather cheat it and beat, that not play it all....:frown:

Well, good luck with the action sequences in Operation Stealth, especially those eight levels of mazes where you're being chased; and the timed maze in Future Wars, of course.

(erm, you knew about those, right?)

I enjoyed those games back in the day, especially Cruise for a Corpse. I never did finish Future Wars, but I didn't have any problems completing either Cruise for a Corpse or Operation Stealth. I vividly remember considering the action sequences in OS a breeze, but then, I used to play a lot of action games back then, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I loved Delphine Software adventure games when I was younger!
But Kurufinwe is absolutely right :)

I remember Operation Stealth triggering holy wars about action scenes in adventure games (nothing new, uh :) ) at the time.

My advice : Play Future Wars and Cruise for a corpse with a walkthrough
