Welcome :)
I found this website:

If you scroll down, it talks about the different versions of MI2 and the PC Gamer edition. You had to pay $20 at the time to unlock the game. I don't know if that would still work?
I also don't know if that applies to the Secret of Monkey Island.

It does. The $20 fee unlocked both games.
If you still have the magazine itself, I believe it gave you a LucasArts phone number to call to purchase the games. It might still work.

Alternatively you can just try to see if ScummVM will bypass the encryption as it usually does. Either way you need it to run these games.

i am unable to get a hold of the company that provides the key. "Release Software Corporation", i believe is out of business. there is no contact information for lucas arts or anything like that. no phone numbers work and i the pc gamer staff will not respond back to be. i have no idea how to get the code. it seems i am the only one on the planet that has this disc.

Have you tried using ScummVM, as was suggested above?

I think I have that Demo CD...but I don't remember having to pay $20 bucks to play those...Of course the one I have also has the original Duke Nukem, Alone in the Dark and a few other games, so it may be different.
The codes aren't that hard to find, but I think it would be against the rules to post them here.
