Quest for Glory IV - Help

[Nemo Returning]

Hi everybody !!!

I've just finished the game as a Paladin (well, a-l-m-o-s-t) :(

But I'm hoplessly stuck in the final episode - in the Essense Room.

The problem is, I can't finish off Ad Avis, no matter what I do.

I've tried all the possible combinations with the Staff and Ultimate Joke (at different Speed and Skills Settings), but this ***stard just keeps springing back to live after being hit with the Staff :(

As far as know, Sierra aknowledged this as a bug and it was fixed later for the CD version of the Game.

But I've got Floppy version (with all the existing patches installed, played trough DosBox ) where this patch is not applicable...


Question 1: Does anybody know how to work around this problem?

Question 2: At this point in the game I mainly want to see the (MUCH DESERVED) end sequence. Does anybody have the sequence movie, or a savegame after just killing the ***stard?

I had the same problem when I wanted to replay QFG4, I cant remember what I did.

What patch are you using?

http://www.geocities.com/belzorash/ - make sure you get the latest QFG4 patch there, its updated every few months.

I've applied all the patches found at this link - and from the very beginning too.

I used the Belzorash's Patch as well (just in case); though I don't think it was any help for my floppy version.

BTW Belzorash mentions the problem I have -

- Ad Avis respawning after being killed


So the questions are the same:


Question 1: Does anybody remember how to work around this problem?

I had this problem as well (it only happens with the paladin, from memory). I think I ended up throwing my paladin sword at him and that worked.

If that doesn't work, I recommend trying the common room:

(the QfG section used to be FACS: The Ressurection, but they amalgamated with the Common Room and deleted all the old, useful posts. If you post there you should find help.)

Will try it now - out of principle and curiosity.

I just managed to outwit this game another way - just don't ask me please why it worked :)

[Run through Win XP - without DosBox etc. ]
[Details DOWN, Speed UP, Skills DOWN]

[Save again just a split second after killing the @#$stard for good]
[Quit and Re-run the savegame again through DosBox]

I'm posting it all in details in case another poor soul stumbles upon the same lowly bug :)
