I'm playing it right now, and I'm really enjoying it, excellent game with lots of interesting puzzles and mini-quests, highly recommended. Some may not like the massive and rather cluttered inventory (typical of Kheops), but you can freely re-organise it and make it look tidy. I have, however, the impression that I found a possible dead end.

Your actions and dialogue choices affect sometimes the way you have to go on. I've just been in such a path fork a while ago, trying to figure out how I could get the lenses from Saturnin.

You should be at least @ day 3 to understand what I'm writing below.
Ok, you have to do something to calm down his suspicions. Bribery is not an option, he hates white wine, how about a bottle of nice brandy? Now, you have to choose your style, sneaky or honest. If you're trying to play smart, the bloody beggar drinks it and he wants more! Clear, we'll have to distil some brandy out of the wine, so back to Leonardo's lab.

Well, before talking to Saturnin, I had opened the trapdoor and went down to the secret room. I fixed the cannon, so I knew I needed the explosive powder. Being at the lab, and since I had already the ingredients, I thought I could also make that thing-for-blinding-your-enemies. I did not know if I eventually needed it, but since the recipe was on the scroll, I thought why not... I was at the lab, so I could make all those three things in a single shot, after all.

Now the tricky part. First I made the blinding-enemies-thingy (saltpeter + water + sugar, mixed in the burning pot), then I decided to go on with the powder. I read the recipe quickly and I had the impression that I should heat saltpeter + charcoal + sulphur (on the contrary, you just need to mix them...) So, I put the saltpeter in the burning pot, and now what.....?! Hmmm, charcoal powder + sulphur are not good for the pot, the game does not accept them... Ok, I went back downstairs to get some more saltpeter and mixed them with the charcoal powder and the sulphur (no heat is necessary!)

But, what about the extra brandy now?! How could I get rid of the saltpeter in the pot? I needed that pot empty to distil the wine there! I could not repeat the previous combo (no sugar available any more!), so I thought "let's leave the fire put off by itself". I tried to spend time going here and there, I even crossed the bridge twice, played with the boat, and returned only to find the pot still burning with the damned saltpeter inside! :frusty:
I hope I'm missing something here, otherwise I think it's a serious bug.

Aha! Someone else with a similar problem that I had. Check the thread I made at gameboomers. I ended up writing to kheops and you can see their reply to me on page 2. You might need to go back to an early save game until they patch this.

Thanks! Yes, it's the very same problem. It seems that the people at the gameboomers forum didn't quite understand this issue, probably because most of them chose the other dialog path when talking to Saturnin, or followed the proper order at the lab. I'm not quite sure if the (not yet implemented) option to empty the cauldron (as suggested by Kheops) is the right solution, I have the feeling this might lead to other implications.

Hmm, another question, now that I'm in day 4.

The guards caught me and I am locked in my room. For sure, you can get out with the classic trick and I did so, but what if
you haven't stolen or bought from Saturnin an extra sheet of paper before? After all, why should you have done it?! You needed only four sheets for the engraved plates...

I've seen this one, and, in this case, Saturnin happens to have left the necessary item lying around your room. It doesn't make complete sense, but at least you don't get stuck.

Very good point Amerzone. Looks like Kurufinwe nailed it though. Didn't become a problem for me either. I just happened to make all the 'items' at my disposal because I like pressing buttons and turning handles whenever I can, even if I think it's pointless :P
