Picked up Scratches and promised myself (like I do before every adventure game I play) that I wouldn't use any hints THIS time around. Ofcourse that idea always goes out the window within a day.

Anyway I'm currently at 9am Sunday. Not too deep into the game but if you havent made it that far you might not want to read ahead.

Ok I just had the spooky dream part, and was investigating the "scratches" sound. Completed that, went back to sleep and got a call from Jerry in the morning saying he was going to come out to see me and that I should go "work on my book". I go back to my room, try to use my typewriter and "I'm not ready to work yet"... hmmm ok the game is not giving me much direction there.

I then visit every room in the house 87 times... again. Check the gallery where my dream took place, check all the items, check my room, the fireplaces, basement... combine every item I have, call jerry and scream at the busy signal... NOTHING. Aghhh 3 hours of searching! :frusty:

So I shamefully must ask for a small subtle hinty. Perhaps someone could just let me know what floor I should be on to firgure this part out, whatever it is. *sigh*

Thanks
Axl

There's a typewritten page in the pile of blank pages. Have you read that yet?

I recently played this and it's the only thing that comes to mind right now(but my memory is faulty). :)

Not everything is in plain view. Perhaps someone put some important stuff away somewhere secure.

Have you found the safe?

Thx for the replies.

Melanie: Yea found the paper. But it doesn't seem to trigger any new events.

Pollo: I have not found a safe. But if it's supposed to be hiding underneath a painting or picture then my game is broke. I've checked every painting in the house 5 times. Nothing.

I don't think I'll ever trust another Adventure game again after playing Nibiru. I got stuck and spent a week trying to figure out what to do next. Turns out it was a dead end bug and there was no way move on. That will always be in the back of my mind now. :\

There is a painting in the main bedroom (the one Michael said was too fancy for him):

Look in the long mirror to see what painting is reflected in it and carefully move your cursor over it.

And welcome to the forums :)

I didn't run into ANY dead-end in Nibiru ... but it's totally impossible to be 100% certain in any game that there is'nt one under certain 'unusual' gameplays ... no matter how many beta testers and for how long.

However, I'm almost completely certain that there is none in "Scratches' (I was a beta-tester for nearly 8 months).

If there IS one, you will be the very first out of hundreds & hundreds of players to discover it ... if so, please describe it here so that every one of us can benefit from your discovery!

More likely ... it's your stuckness and not the game's!!

Hey thx for the hints. I must have ran my hand over that painting 5 times and completely missed the hot spot.

Unfortunetly I'm stuck again! Arghhhh Mind helping this poor player out again? :D

I just found the hidden babys room, and high tailed to the attic newspapers to investigate the death.. After reading the newspapers I am supposed to investigate Blackwell some more. I then begin to backtrack to everyroom in the house... rechecking everything. After hours of searching I pathetically flip on the "hints". It tells me I should REALLY explore the gallery. So I run my hand over every pixel in the room, I see the frame behind the display case and the "firm" doohicky at the bottom. Tools don't affect it. I have a sweet little hammer that would bust that thing up nicely but apparently that's "Pointless", even though I saw it in my dream. I just climbed out of a window by poking a hole in the tower wall, therefore violating numerous building codes, but I can't smash up the case? :P

Any help is appeciated

Good to hear you missed the Nibiru bug. It was at the Temple and if you went and completed that colored ball puzzle before talking to a certain character (the guy digging If I remember) then it would put u in the dead end. :\ I didn't have any recent saves after that and had to redo hours of play. It scarred me. heh

You saw in your dream what was behind it... Look at these one at a time to see if you can figure it out before you see too much info.

#1
You can use the bar to pull out the case and so that means it must be on wheels. Where would those be and how would you get at them (inventory item)?

#2
You can use the knife to pry off the panel on the front of the case to expose the wheels. What would you need to do to the wheels to get them to move (inventory item)?

#3
Oil the wheels with the oil in your inventory and then pull on the bar to move the case. Now you can use your hammer.
