View Full Version : Syberia trouble

I have a major problem with syberia.

I've played the sequel prior the original, and wanted to play the first one to understand the story.
At first the game seemed not quite as I imagined it, it was a bit of shock, because it was slower than the 2nd one.
But, I continued to play it, and now I simply love it (though I think the game should have more logical puzzles - almost every puzzle has nothing to do with logic, you have to press buttons until you get it right).

Still, I'd like to finish the game, and I can't do that because I have a problem which I hope someone here can help me with.

Here's the deal:
I boarded the train and set off from Valadilene. Then when the trains stops at the next station, the game asks for the cd 2 (smallest install).
The problem is that when I put the cd in cd-rom, press the button "OK", nothing happens. The game doesn't freeze, but nothing happens. I can press the button all day, but still nothing.

I hope someone here can help me with my problem.
P.S. Sorry for such a long post, but it's my first one here (hurray).
P.P.S. Sorry about my English, it isn't as it used to be ( I'm from Croatia :) ).

Welcome to the forum. :)

The easiest thing to do would be to do a larger install. ;) Back up your saves first.

Also, you might want to browse the CD and try clicking on some of the files on it. Maybe the CD is bad?

Yeah, thats maybe the biggest problem of all, and I forgot to say it.
I can't make a larger install because the game is really old and the friend I borrowed it from, didn't take much care of it, so when I try a larger install, a CRC error appears.
Does that make the problem unfixable?

I would buy a new one, but I can't find it anywhere.

I thought about ordering a game via Internet, but I'm not so sure about giving my credit card number, even over a secure line, so I wanted to ask, do you know anybody here to have some exp with amazon?

A CRC error means the disk is bad. :frown:

Amazon is a reputable site. I have ordered from them many times and never had a problem.

What way of paying method is the best, and do you think the shipment would reach me?

If the cd is bad than I don't have any other options other than buying a new one from Amazon. :frown:

Amazon might not ship to Croatia. You'll have to check their website to find out. (Often, Amazon can't sell software outside of the US due to publisher agreements.)

Ebay is another place you could try. Just make sure to look at a seller's feedback before you buy from them. Do you have PayPal? That's usually the easiest way to pay on eBay, and you don't have to worry about changing money to a foreign currency (PayPal does it for you automatically).

Hm, I'll try both.
Hope they have some left in stock ( I'll probably end up buying things I don't even want, nor need).

Still, many thanks for helping me out.

amazon probably would be the safest choise.
but if they say it will PROBABLY ship in 1-2 weeks, you'll w8 a month!

i got mine from the company's site.
but it would be expensive to do so.

ebay is a good way to get out of this mess.
just be extra carefull of 2 things.

1st: check the rating of the seller. if he has less than 99% dont do it. you can get into a scam.

2nd: be absolutelly sure that you know exactly what the shipping charges are. some people tend to overprize shippments in order to get untaxed (by ebay) profit.

thats all!

hope you can get it cause syberia 1 is much much better than 2. but thats just my opinion!
