View Full Version : Zork Nemesis has many problems for me

I have already checked both of Inferno's guides. This one (http://home.earthlink.net/~infernofilecabinet4/XpSetupsU_Z/Guest/Z_nemesis_guest.htm) allows the game run, but my problem is not there.
Problem 1: the screen rotates way to fast. Even when I go into the options and set the rotate speed to the slowest setting. This makes navigating the game almost impossible. :frusty:
I have a good idea that the problem is that my computer has to much memory, but I do not know any solution to the problem, either a patch for the game or something that would slow down the game.
Problem 2: Windows has an error and closes the game when it tries to play some of the movies. One of the consistent ones is right after I solve the fire room behind the tapestries in the main temple area, just as you fly down to the dias.
Mind you these are the errors I know of. I have not left the main temple area yet. So if there are errors caused later I would not know.
Thanks for your time.

You want to slow down memory, or processor speed? For processor speed, use a program like MoSlo or Turbo (you can find these with Google). What operating system are you using? Is this a DOS game or Windows?

What does the error message say?

I am using Windows XP to run this game. It is a Windows game as far as I know.
What does the error message say?
The standard Windows "This program has done something I don't like. So :P."
Unfortunately I am not at the computer I it installed on. I will check later tonight and post the exact error.
Hmm. If the game uses QuickTime, you should uninstall whatever QT you have on your computer and instead install the version that comes with Nemesis. This fixes similar problems with movies in some other games. I'm not sure if Nemesis uses QT, but if it does, that's worth a try.

The computer I installed it on is having some problems so I will not be able to get the exact error until either tonight or tomorow.

The game does not use any quicktime formats as far as I know. I know it uses .avi's for it's movies because I went through the game files the first time I played this game oh so long ago. But I did not see any other movie formats.

Ok, I don't know what happened but now the errors are only popping up randomly now. :frusty:
Anyway, I don't know how this happened but it seems that when I fixed the problem with the computer(an older version of directx) the problem was mostly solved.
Sorry for taking up your time. Thanks for the advice.
No problem. Sorry you haven't been able to fix it completely but it seems that at least you'll be able to play.
I have Nemesis installed on an old computer... never had to deal with it on a newer one.
