I think Len Green meant to say 'Welcome to AG, deoo'. :shifty:

I'm sure there's somebody around here you can give you the help you need.

There is NO BUG in the GAME !

There IS A BUGin chapter 5 in some of the COPIES!!

No offence meant ... just a fact (almost provable)!

I've read a similar request MANY dozens of times.
It upsets me, since it implies, quite unfairly, a non existent fault in a pretty good game ... and hence tends to 'devalue' it ... not necessarily by people who've bought the game !

This sort of thing is not the way to encourage sales of Quest/Adventures and hence boost up the popularity of the genre !

If you actually read deoo's reply to your post, you'll find he didn't actually have any bugs in Runaway. Jumping on him for his first AG post wasn't very welcoming.

Strange ........
I've read a virtually identical request MANY dozens of times ... probably at least a hundred even on the limited number of Forums I browse ... and all in exactly the same spot ... and I know why.
N.B. And frequently by newbies to a Forum.

Coincidence ... maybe !
If not, it unfairly implies a bug in the game which ONLY appears in an original batch of copies.

Make of this what you will !!

I think Len was specifically responding to this

Well I also had the "Chapter 5" problem

It does seem that this "Chapter 5" problem has cropped up an awful lot lately, and it came to my attention after I sent out a bunch of saves that it's linked to pirated copies of Runaway. So I'll admit that I'm suspicious of the original post, also.

I'm glad Deoo is enjoying the game and will be able to finish it, and if he's using a legal copy, then I apologize for being suspicious. On the flip side, if people using pirated copies didn't ask for help here and end up wasting the time of people who go out of their way to help resolve these types of issues (in what we are led to believe are legal versions of the game), we wouldn't be suspicious of those who genuinely need help. ;)

I got a PM from someone last week who is having a problem with Echo that's known to occur on pirated copies, and he admitted he was using a pirated copy but wanted my help to solve it anyway. :( I appreciate the honesty, but my answer is still always going to be "no."

*steps off soapbox*

~~ Thanks fov ~~

I TRIED to be as tactful as possible ... and didn't want to specifically accuse anybody of pirating !

However, I know for a fact & can 'almost 'prove' it ... that in one batch of (hundreds, maybe thousands ... I have no idea how many folk "downloaded" them) pirated copies of Runaway, there is a bug in the identical spot in chapter-5 of "Runaway".

I have honestly seen scores (well over a hundred) cries for a savegame after that point on the few Forums I happen to attend ... I'm sure MANY MORE on other Sites (NOT ADVENTUREGAMERS !!)

Most of there cries are accompanied by statements of hard disk crashing & the like. Strange that so many hard disks just 'happen' to crash at that exact point
No way does it happen on the authentic game.

Anybody reading of so many crashes & not knowing that it's caused by a pirated copy, is likely to conclude that the game (and developers & testers ... not me :7 ) is flaky & hence not buy it.
So these pirates are not only getting their game free burt also damaging the reputation of a bona fide Co. and indirectly the whole Quest/Adventure genre.

ahemm Green,

I understand your holy anger but the situation is not so bad.
I mean you surely remember that 4-5 years ago when net bandwith
was really slim for most ppl,
a lot of cracker teams issued so called RIPs, which, fortunately,
Rest In Peace by these days.. Now THOSE were a real abomination!

Today these guys usually crack the loader file with CD check
only without raping the game. Of course this doesn't justify
their activity! AND they still ruin entire games and deter potential
customers from time to time. :\

Does anyone have any save games from Runaway? I need a save for the chapter where Brian arrives at the ghost town in the desert or somewhere before that.
