hi all,
does anybody know how to run Broken Sword on Win XP ?
I install it but it didn't work and an error appears that it couldn't find a file .
plz help !
Use ScummVM (http://www.scummvm.org/) and it'll work great. Mine did.
From the documentation:
5.6.2) Broken Sword 1:
------ ---------------
For this game, you'll need all of the files from the clusters directories on
both CDs. You will also need the speech.clu files from the speech directories,
but since they are not identical you'll need to rename them speech1.clu and
speech2.clu for CD 1 and 2 respectively.
In addition, you will need a music subdirectory with all of the files from the
music subdirectories on both CDs. Some of these files appear on both CDs, but
in these cases they are either identical or, in one case, so nearly identical
that it makes little difference.
ScummVM does not support the original cutscene files, so there is no need to
copy them.
The cutscene files that ScummVM supports are available in the download section on the site. In short you need these file (+ the cutscene files):
*.clu
swordres.rif
MUSIC folder
SPEECH folder
Rename speech.clu on CD1 to speech1.clu
Rename speech.clu on CD2 to speech2.clu

would the graphics be 'downgraded' using scummVM on PC than the original PC version of the Game?

If anything Scummvm can make them better, with its selection of graphics filters. :)

I don't know whether the graphic filters could do anything to a SVGA game, but yeah, in any case, they won't be downgraded.
I really love what these filters can do with Monkey Island of Indiana Jones, or DOTT, or Sam and Max, though. No more pixels. :)

I'm playing BS1 on SCUMMVM right now and Ninth is right. ScummVM graphic filters really do not enhance the graphics all that much.

I didn't find a problem with BS1 - I've played it twice with XP and the game has run smoothly both times:D

I think the 3rd one is better when press Alt+Ctrl+3 in game. :)
