I heard that there is a Z5 interpreter for the Symbian OS, the OS several mobile phones use...
Does anybody here know about Sybiam OS? I will probally buy a Nokia N Gage and this has Symbian OS too, but a very small screen...
I want to know if the program will work even with such a small screen!
Imagine playing Infocom games on a phone! :D
I heard that here are Speccy and C 64 Emulators for Symbian OS too...

You'd definitely need a keyboard for that, though... imagine the horror of typing it in using the standard numerical keys. :o

I think it uses some sort interface that is like Legend's, you have a list of verbs and nouns to choose from... or maybe not?

I'm betting you have to type it in, either manually or using that word-guess thing that most new phones support. Also, many new phones run Symbian, so I'd check it out (Google it or something) before running headlong into N-Gage. (I really, really hope you do that.)

You know I'm actually thinking of it...
I think I will try to find out who made the program and ask them directly about it.. :)

LOOK HERE! (http://www.russellbeattie.com/demo/HH2G3650.html) And here. (http://www.latz.org/infocom/index.shtml)
I also saw in a mobile forum that you can use MAME too! *D
I have also confirmed that there are C64 and Spectrum emulators, I wasn't sure before...
I think you can just copy most java applets to the mobile phone and it should work if it has the right version!
Hmm where was that Java version of Jet Set Willy? :P
And if you are bloody rich you can buy a Nokia 9210 Communicator, an mini PC/Phone, and you can get a DOS emulator to play Monkey Island and other old games! But its 700$ :frusty:
BTW, I am NOT getting the Nokia N Gage... yet... I will wait till its less buggy and less expensive, but I'm still getting an Symbian mobile phone, when I get it, I'll try these programs and tell you more about them...

The guy I'm with has an Ericsson P800, which I would recommend to anyone who wants an Ultimate Phone type of phone. I joke I'm with him cos of his phone, it's that good. Touchscreen, handwriting recognition, 3D games, one with force freedback, even, video, camera, mp3, MAME support, internet, even MSN, ffs .. it's the kind of phone you'd want to take to bed with you, if it weren't so big <glances at phil>

Ouch! Thats seems way out my budget... :frusty:
I think I'll get the Nokia 3650, I heard it can support MAME too, but since its only has a few megabytes you need a memory card to use it...
If I was bloody rich I'td get the 9210 Nokia Communicator, and then get a GPS addon! :9~

Glad to hear you've moved away from crazy N-Gage delusions. ;)

Does anyone know if you can just port any old Java game to a mobile phone?

I DID IT! I had to use a C64 emulator to do it by the way....
If I knew how to use 2 disk games on this emulator I could play Maniac Mansion!
Either that or I learn Java 2 Micro Edition...
I also have Time quest, It looks like an old Sierra game...
