Mike Doak is closing his website at the end of the year (2003) and "The Adventures of Fatman" will not be available for download anywhere, according to Michael.

At present he is selling it for $9.99.

It is an excellent game with good Reviews and a walkthrough.

A good Xmas present for anybody! :D

He has said that it's abandonware, but it's the *gamers* who must make it so.
It's not going to be that way, before new year though...

Same here.

And yes, the computer voice is mildly annoying, but not as much as the announcer ;)

The narrator rules! Man... None of you people know what you're talking about!

Narrator & computer voices :-

Some loved them (majority I think ?!?). :)
Others loathed them! :(

Somehow I know that the day the creator announces Fatman as abandonware, The underdogs are going to upload it.

I am just playing through my new copy of Fatman now, and I have no problem with the announcer in gereral. For those that don't know, he speaks in some sort of (intentionally?) bad faux French accent, which is a little wierd, but not totally out of character with the rest of the game. However, both the Narrator and the Computer seem like they are set a lot louder in the mix than the rest of the characters, especially Fatman.

For a home brew game I think Fatman is great. I got a lot more than I expected for my $10 (and shipped quickly as well!) as opposed to, say, Uru, where I got a lot less than I expected for my $50. Honestly, I wish there were more Fatmans and less Urus in the world.

SOCKO! has closed its 'doors' as of today - www.socko-entertainment.com

Oh, and GreatPumpkin, it's not a faux anything accent, the guy who did the voices is Polish, and he's speaking in his own accent.

Hehe, he's out of copies :) That's good news, I suppose.

I'm sad he can't continue selling and developing more games, though.

Are you sure? The game shipped from Ohio, and the characters voiced by his father and brothers, and all the other characters voiced by himself have American accents. So, either he is faking a variety of American accents or one bad European accent.

EDIT: According to whois.net the site is registered through tucows.com. Looks pretty American to me.

EDIT: Oh, and has an American accent in the behind-the-scenes commentary. So I'm pretty sure the Narrator accent is fake.

He means the guy who did the narrator's voice is Polish. He did speak with a thicker accent than usual when recording the voice, though, to add to the craziness.

From the demo, I thought the narrator was absolutely fantastic. Hated the computer voice, though.
