Uru Prologue Documentary Videos
 

The Great Tree, one of the player groups who became an integral part of the Uru Live Prologue, is producing a series of documentary videos covering the major story events of Prologue from release, to the shut down by Ubisoft.

These will be a great way to get up to speed on the history of the DRC, and what happened in the first opening of D'ni, while we're waiting for Myst Online: Uru Live to start.

Sounds interesting. Looking forward to live release and I love watching game documentaries.

I have to say I've been really interested in the Uru Live project a long time and was sad to hear it died before I got a chance to explore it. I'm watching the videos but Im a bit confused, is this dealing with the plot in the single player game or some plot created by the players on their own on the online age?

The videos are dealing with story that happened during the brief "Prologue" stage of Uru Live 1, from the public launch, to Ubisoft's shutdown a few months later. A group of players found themselves inteacting regularly with several of the NPCs, becoming a full part of the story.

When Prologue ended, the Great Tree events were one of many plot bits left dangling, that the new Uru Live may answer.

it's also representative of just how *different* Uru Live is, compared to other MMOs. Where else could a player actually find themselves changing the course of events? Usually what you get is pre-canned plotlines, that you never really *do* anything to.

This is an awesome concept, and I sure hope we'll see more Uru live in the future.

Yes, Cyan has promised us not only new content, i.e. new Ages to visit, new events and plot events and embelishments on the parts of URU already in existence to access but also in game actors to interact with the players in concert with the overall plot directions and objectives, plus new aspects of game play not yet revealed. There will be new content on a monthly, weekly and sometmes daily basis I believe and we all can look forward to a unique and remarkable experience when it is released. Thansk Eleri, and let me second her posts, Marten has made beautiful videos and the story being told from the Great Tree team is wonderful for the background and as an example of the quite incredible ways that new technology is allowing game stories to be explicated and shared.
