I remember playing this when I was sick in bed a few months ago. It's really a gem. Wonderful and unique storyline and really good game design. Don't miss it - the author is truly talented.

I just played one called Bow Street Runner (an FMV detective adventure) based on the mini-series City of Vice. It's from Channel 4 and not BBC, but it's in the same vein. You don't need to know anything about the show to play.

Obituary: April 9, 2008 - Uru Live blog post:
Here I am - better later than never!
Jack, that was a g reat review. As someone who has been around Uru since the beta of 2003 - let me say "you got it"!
Uru has a small group of very devoted fans, hence the long posts, above. I'm a fan too, but I agree with everything you said. I liked Uru, a lot, but I'm one of those people who thinks it had flaws. The live events were a disaster, in my humble opinion. On gameplay, there simply was not enough to do in the game. You can't build a persistent world on puzzles - there has to be something else to do.
For all that - I do miss Uru.
Nowadays, there is a small group of fans who are hoping to revive Uru (after all the legal agreements are worked out) with fan made content - new ages - new things. This would be a new concept for Uru, but an interesting one. We'll see what happens.

Technically Hitchhikers Guide would be adventures in radio. It was a radio series originally. Then came the books and game. There was a TV series and there has been a film but radio was definitely first.
The game was an Infocom text adventure (and quite a hard one). The revamped BBC version (with added graphics) is here.

I can't wait! I love Frogware's games. They're always pure point'n'click and this one looks like it's so moody.

House of Tails' Moment of Silence was a "breath of fresh air" but Overclocked is a completely "new life."
Fans who fell in love with MoS cannot and should not miss out on this game. If you are into stories and novels than even better. This is all about living a story than exploring puzzles like the Davinci's Code (and I don't mean the game).

I'm looking forward to this one. I'm always a sucker* for Dracula stories as the locations sound absolutely wonderful. I'm anxious to see what Dracula looks like too.
*I wrote this before I realized what a terrible pun it was. :P

I'm sure most people reading this also knows of the Hitchhiker game, but that's also BBC (not originally, but it's still impressive that they did it).

Secret Files: Tunguska article:
In my opinion is quite a fun game to play. Quite relaxing to go through it. Cinematics and the overall graphics are very nice to look and although the main characters won't become your role models, they manage to steal a smile from you from time to time. It does not bring too many new elements (storyline included) and it's not a serious challenge for an experienced adventure games player. However I would recommend it, especially if you return from a longer holiday from playing adventure games.

Art of Murder: FBI Confidential hands-on article:
Yes, that's exactly how it works, Shany, and it makes no sense. The auto-save is before a skippable cinematic, but otherwise starts you at the exact same point. I guess it's meant to add a little extra pressure to "solve" the puzzle, but it's really just a pain since it's trial and error anyway.

I'm not sure I understand how the 'game over' thing works.
You get two shots at it, where if you die you autmatically restart the sequence, but after that it's 'game over' and you have to relaod from an autosave AT THE SAME POINT?
That doesn't sound right, and if it is, why not just give infintie tries and save everyone the trouble?

The BBC have also just reinstated Attack of the Graske. A mini episode of Doctor Who where you play the Doctor's companion.
A .little bit simplistic (it was originally a game on interactive TV operated by TV remote) and a little old (couple of years) but pleasantly diverting.

I just finished playing overclocked. Really great game. I have to disagree though about the ending being disappointing. After experiencing endings like those from still life, dreamfall, runaway 2, experiment and culpa innata I can say that I'm glad I finally played a good adventure game with a decent ending. Near the end I was expecting the game to end abruptly leaving us with a lot of unanswered questions but fortunately that didn't happen. Instead all loose threads are explained and it also gave us closure (at least to me).

This review could have been written by myself :) This is exactly how I've felt about Overclocked. Both the weaknesses and strengthes. And I also agree with the basicly positive verdict.

Despite my earlier comment on this thread (can this be called a thread if it's not on a forum?), i like the fact that AG is harder to please than most other adventure game review sites out there. They were brutally honest about the flaws in my previous games and always help me do better next time. That's the whole point of criticism, yesno? Anyway, you can't get worked up over one review. One review, no matter how prominent, is still just one person's opinion.

If all review sites gave the same marks to everything, what would be the point?

I think that the more reviews the better. No matter the grade, no matter the stars, or A, B, C, or 70%, 80%!

Why go to the store or wait for shipping? You can buy and download full version games at Adventure Shop any time, no matter where you live.

With URU and MOUL as with life you get out of it what you put into it as well as from what is there. There was a great deal to do in both the first version of URU and in MOUL both and the live events were exiciting and very much loved by hundreds of players who remained active throught out the game to the very end. On the last night there were 698 players active up until the last moment and we await the new incarnation with much enthusiasm and interest.
