E3 2004 in Pictures

Hey, look what we found under some review copies, industry one-sheets and apple cores: it's pictures from the 2004 E3 trade show! As you can easily tell, we did a lot at E3 and we also had a lot of fun together. Is it possible to feel nostalgic about something that happened three months ago?

Click on these thumbnails for a larger view of each picture. Except where noted, all photos are by Marek Bronstring, Doug Tabacco, and Christina Gmiterko.

The obligatory annual picture of the LA convention center. The entire AG staff admires Jake Rodkin's newly owned car. L to R: Marek Bronstring, Guybrush Threepwood, Evan Dickens (kneeling), Chris Remo, Jake Rodkin, some chick, Doug Tabacco, some other chick, and Christina Gmiterko (photo by Mike Thompson) Chris and Doug heatedly discuss Marek's apple core incident while Marek ignores everything.

The Holy Adventure lies just beyond this door. Do we dare? Monkey Island 2 on a hotel television. Yep, we're geeks. Evan abandons his work to cheer on Chris' game of Monkey Island 2. Wow, we're really geeks.

The Tex Murphy designers prove to Christina just how tall they are. L to R: Aaron Conners, Christina, and Chris Jones (Tex Murphy himself). Chris experiences the standard Dreamfall reaction. Jane Jensen explains the cat hair puzzle to us. We still didn't get it.

Jane Jensen explains the meaning of life. It makes more sense than the cat hair puzzle. Jane Jensen shows us Booby Trap. Clockwise from L: Evan, Marek, Chris, and Jane.

Ragnar Tornquist demonstrates Dreamfall to a group of silly fanb--err, serious journalists.

Djamil from Lexis Numerique, winner of the Coolest Accent award, shows us Missing aka In Memoriam. Chris and his size 36 feet playing EXTREME MONKEY ISLAND!!1! Got Game president Howard Horowitz shows off the Quiet Weekend in Capri ad placed in a travel magazine.

It's nice to know everyone has the same definition of "adventure game" that we do. Evan finds a surefire candidate for the next Top 20. Doug and Evan come to pay homage.

Chris forgets exactly what meeting he was supposed to be going to. A classic adventure game by any standards. Guybrush Threepwood mourns the death of his creators.

Guybrush (okay, his name is really Dominic Armato) and Ragnar Tornquist argue over whether Guybrush could defeat April Ryan at insult sword-fighting. The Star Wars gang comes to finish the job they started. (That's a Sam & Max hat, by the way) Aw, I guess Star Wars guys aren't all that bad. *sniff* We'll miss you, Sam & Max.

Well, that's it. Hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them! Now, the countdown begins to our E3 2005 coverage--but don't worry, Adventure Gamers will have plenty of great features to keep you busy in the meantime. Happy adventuring!
