Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for a landmark intellectual title bout between two undefeated heavyweights:
In the left corner, with calabash pipe perched precariously between his lips and wearing a long coat and deerstalker cap (though not beyond using creative disguises when circumstances demand)… he’s credited with foiling more than sixty different crimes, with minor support from his friend Dr. John Watson… he’s been the star of countless books, films, and several prominent adventure games with no loss in popularity since the late 19th century… it’s the great detective himself… Sherlock Holmes!
In the right corner, sporting a malicious expression and dressed in skulky, nondescript layers that let him blend into the darkened Whitechapel alleys… he’s credited with singlehandedly murdering between five and eleven (known) women in a brutal fashion and confounding police at every turn… he’s been the subject of numerous accounts in all forms of media since 1888 and continues to be an enduring fascination… he’s Jack the Ripper!
Okay, so Sherlock and Jack aren’t really about to step into the ring and mentally duke it out, but they’re nevertheless pitted against each other in Frogwares’ latest adventure, the aptly-titled Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper. It’s a compelling challenge for each: the unstoppable (and never-caught) real-life serial killer against the master of fictional mysteries. Will Holmes finally meet his match in the crafty Ripper? Will Jack finally face the justice he's managed to successfully elude thus far?
Admit it, it’s a matchup you’d pay to see. But some of you won’t have to pay, as we’re pleased to offer free retail copies of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper to three lucky winners, courtesy of The Adventure Company. To be eligible, all you need to do is answer the three quiz questions below. Elementary? To those who see and observe (or are just deductively brilliant, and we won’t tell anyone otherwise), definitely so.
The contest will run for one full week, ending Thursday, June 4th, and winners will be contacted by email. Good luck, and remember: don’t walk alone late at night in unsavoury neighbourhoods.
